US Equestrian Announces The Dutta Corp. U.S. Dressage Teams for Rotterdam CDIO4* and Aachen CDIO5*

In addition, two athlete-and-horse combinations will represent the U.S. in CDIY competition at CHIO Aachen World Equestrian Festival.

  • Erin Nichols (Yorba Linda, Calif.) and Handsome Rob AR, a 2012 Dutch Warmblood gelding owned by Diane Nichols
  • Christian Simonson (Ventura, Calif.) and Son of a Lady, a 2011 Danish Warmblood gelding owned by Christina Morgan and Clifton Simonson

Simonson will also compete in the CDI1* with Zeaball Diawind, a 2012 Danish Warmblood gelding owned by Christina Morgan.

Christian Simonson rides Son of a Lady to victory in Wellington’s Global Dressage Festival CDI1* Prix St. Georges in First Senior International Competition for Partnership

WELLINGTON, Florida, Jan. 26, 2023–Christian Simonson rode Son of a Lady to victory in the Global Dressage Festival CDI1* Prix St. Georges Thursday in the first senior international competition for the partnership.

Christian, based in Wellington, and the 12-year-old Danish Warmblood gelding were awarded 74.657% in the first event for the pair that was competing at Young Rider level up until six weeks ago.

American Young Rider Christian Simonson has taken over the ride on Harmony’s Duval that was competed by Adrienne Lyle for the past five years.

Christian, 20 years old, who is coached by Adrienne, hopes to compete the 14-year-old American-bred gelding in the Under-25 division in 2023. The horse is owned by Duval Partners LLC.

Hagen, Germany – The U.S. Young Rider Dressage Team capped a month’s long tour in Europe with a team finish in the Hagen CDIOY, taking eighth place. The team, led by USEF Youth
Coach and Chef d’Equipe George Williams, saw improved rides from Erin Nichols, Mackenzie Peer, and Christian Simonson throughout the course of the competition. Hosted at Future
Champions in Hagen, Germany, the competition saw 10 countries and 26 talented combinations compete in the CDIOY division, showcasing future dressage talents.
