Dressage Riders & Horses Announced for USA Young Rider European Tour & Compiègne Nations Cup

Three Young Rider combinations and three senior riders and horses were named by the U.S. Federation Tuesday for European competitions.

Young Riders to compete as a team sponsored by Discover Dressage at the Future Champions Nations Cup in Hagen, Germany June 14-19 are:

–Erin Nichols, 18, of Yorba Linda, California and Handsome Rob AR, a 19-year-old Dutch Warmblood gelding owned by Diane Nichols;

–Mackenzie Peer, 20, of Leawood, Kansas and Ansgar, her own 17-year-old Dutch Warmblood gelding, and

–Christian Simonson, 19, of Ventura, California and Zeaball Diawind, a 10-year-old Danish Warmblood gelding owned by Christina Morgan.

Spotlight on Christian Simonson – Dressage Extensions

Christian Simonson is an accomplished young man with diverse interests, but his main passion is the sport of Dressage. Christian obtained his student’s pilot license at the age of 15, is an avid mountain biker, downhill skier, and has his open water PADI scuba certification. He recently started college online at the University of Texas, Austin, where he is pursuing a degree in Business. Inspired by his mother’s interest in riding, Christian discovered Dressage at the tender age of six.

Christian Simonson, 2021 Recipient of Fiona Baan Memorial Trophy

The United States Dressage Federation announced that Region 7 Young Rider, Christian Simonson, of Ventura, CA, and his nine-year-old, Danish Warmblood gelding, Zeaball Diawind, were awarded the Fiona Baan “Pursuit of Excellence” Memorial Trophy at the North American Youth Dressage Championships, held during the 2021 North American Youth Championships.

Youth Athletes Shine on Day Three at 2021 U.S. Dressage Festival of Champions

Eleven combinations rode the FEI Young Rider Individual Test for the Horseware Ireland/USEF Young Rider Dressage National Championship to close out the third day of competition. Christian Simonson and Zeaball Diawind claimed top honors in the class to clinch the national championship title.
