Lexington, KY (August 24, 2021) – The United States Dressage Federation™ (USDF) is pleased to announce that Region 7 Young Rider, Christian Simonson, of Ventura, CA, and his nine-year-old, Danish Warmblood gelding, Zeaball Diawind, were awarded the Fiona Baan “Pursuit of Excellence” Memorial Trophy at the North American Youth Dressage Championships, held during the 2021 FEI North American Youth Championships.

Christian Simonson and Zeaball Diawind shattered the FEI North American Youth Dressage Championship record for the highest score in the FEI Young Rider freestyle test on Sunday, receiving a 78.93 percent to secure the pair’s third gold medal of the week.
The 19-year-old from California now has six NAYC medals to his name—four of them gold; three of which he earned just this week in Traverse City, MI.

Traverse City, Mich. – The FEI North American Youth Dressage Championships (NAYC) continued today, with the Young Rider division awarding a second gold medal to Christian Simonson (Ventura, Calif.) and Zeaball Diawind after the pair rode to a personal best score of 75.353% in the Individual Final. The silver medal went to Miki Yang (Los Altos Hills, Calif.) and Donavan, who rode to 69.294%, while Tillie Jones (Lincoln, Neb.) and Qi Gong TF earned the bronze medal with 68.588%.
