Christian Simonson is an accomplished young man with diverse interests, but his main passion is the sport of Dressage. Christian obtained his student’s pilot license at the age of 15, is an avid mountain biker, downhill skier, and has his open water PADI scuba certification. He recently started college online at the University of Texas, Austin, where he is pursuing a degree in Business. Inspired by his mother’s interest in riding, Christian discovered Dressage at the tender age of six.
On this week’s show we are joined by young rider gold medallist Christian Simonson.
Eleven combinations rode the FEI Young Rider Individual Test for the Horseware Ireland/USEF Young Rider Dressage National Championship to close out the third day of competition. Christian Simonson and Zeaball Diawind claimed top honors in the class to clinch the national championship title.
Simonson of Ventura, California, and Zeaball Diawind jumped up to the top of the leaderboard after Thursday’s Young Rider Team Test with a score of 73.744%, nearly four percentage points ahead of their closest competitor.

Lexington, KY (August 24, 2021) – The United States Dressage Federation™ (USDF) is pleased to announce that Region 7 Young Rider, Christian Simonson, of Ventura, CA, and his nine-year-old, Danish Warmblood gelding, Zeaball Diawind, were awarded the Fiona Baan “Pursuit of Excellence” Memorial Trophy at the North American Youth Dressage Championships, held during the 2021 FEI North American Youth Championships.

This result marked the highest finish in program history for the U.S. Young Rider Dressage Team at Future Champions. Ten countries with 25 horse-and-rider combinations competed in the CDIO-Y, which featured talented young athletes from across Europe.
HAGEN, Germany, June 10, 2021–Luca Sophia Collin on Descolari led Germany to the Future Champions Young Rider Nations Cup team gold Thursday with Denmark taking silver and Christian Simonson on Zeaball Diawind leading America to the bronze.
