Last year, four USEF/USDF Emerging Athlete Program members attended a four-day training camp at the United States Olympic & Paralympic Committee (USOPC) headquarters in Colorado Springs, Colo. Ellanor Boehning (Rancho Santa Fe, Calif.), Tiggy Gates (Encinitas, Calif.), Erin Nichols (Yorba Linda, Calif.), and Christian Simonson (Ventura, Calif.) stayed on site with U.S. athletes from other sports and attended sessions focusing on physical training, nutrition, and support available from the USOPC for U.S. athletes in national governing body programs.
Christian Simonson, the 2023 FEI Rising Star and on America’s Pan American Games gold medal team, will compete Fleau de Baian, the 13-year-old stallion that Adelinde Cornelissen developed from a youngster to a Dutch team horse.
Adelinde Cornelissen’s Grand Prix horse Fleau de Baian has been sold to the U.S.A. The 13-year old Dutch warmblood stallion found a new owner in Florida.
Santiago, Chile – The U.S. Dressage Team rose to the occasion to secure team gold at the Santiago 2023 Pan American Games, finishing on a team total of 450.670 after strong performances today from all combinations. Brazil finished with a silver medal on 443.343, while Canada captured bronze with a 431.937. The three Grand Prix combinations will move on to contest the Grand Prix Freestyle on Wednesday, October 25, for individual medals.
Santiago, Chile – The U.S. Dressage Team currently holds first place on a team total of 224.338 after the first day of dressage concluded at the Santiago 2023 Pan American Games, with tomorrow’s competition set to determine team medals. Brazil is currently in second on a 221.151, with Canada in third on a 214.277. With both Small and Large tour combinations competing, scoring for Large Tour combinations adds three points to their final percentage as part of the championship format. Intermediate I and Grand Prix Special competition will begin at 10:00 a.m. ET tomorrow.
Christian Simonson, 21, a Californian but based in Wellington, Florida has been nominated for 2023 Rising Star.
Christian is on the U.S. dressage team with Son of a Lady for the Pan American Games scheduled for later this month.
He has been successful on U.S. teams in major youth competitions on both sides of the Atlantic as well as the senior Nations Cup.
U.S. international Grand Prix horse Harmony’s Duval has been retired from competition sport.
Harmony’s Duval is a 15-year old American bred KWPN gelding by Rousseau out of Uptown Girl (by Riverman). He is bred by Leslie Malone of Harmony Sport Horses in Colorda, USA.
